Unfiltered by Blask and Soho House

An intimate exploration of the personal journey, with curated guests connecting the professional and personal aspects of life, inspirations, and key moments that define growth, decision-making and transformation.

The Unfiltered event series hosted Fady Atallah from Moment Factory, on April 17th at our Montréal office.

This first edition of Blask × Soho House took place last evening with Fady Atallah. A real, unfiltered story of Fady's journey. He talked about his life, his career, and his decisions, about coincidences, critical thinking and conscious choices. We also discussed the concept of destiny or 'maktoub' (مكتوب) as they say, all through the prism of his experiences from Lebanon during the civil war to Montreal to maths, political science, the internet, film, Bluesponge, culture, content, media, cities, Daily tous les jours, family, Mouna, Little Bits, Moment Factory and the constant search for meaning.

What place should we occupy in the world? What role can or should we play? The individual vs. the collective. Why do we decide in favour of certain things and say no to others? And how do all these fragments — these little pieces — come together to shape our lives and mould who we are and what we do?

ABOUT FADY

As a Creative Director at Moment Factory, Fady spends his days exploring the ways in which cutting-edge technology can capture the magic of light, sound, and movement. With a focus on the transformative power of digital technology, he leads projects that activate urban environments, through groundbreaking multimedia shows and installations that heighten the meaning of public spaces, and breathe new life into architecture and infrastructure.

Before coming to Moment Factory, he gained a range of experience as a creator and leader. He co-founded Bluesponge, a creative studio working at the intersection of content, design, and technology, whose projects gained industry-wide recognition and garnered multiple accolades.

When he’s not busy at Moment Factory, he pursues new frontiers through education and research. He serves as the Program Designer and Class Master for Creative Data at Factry, Montréal’s school of creativity sciences, where he has developed an active learning curriculum that introduces professionals to the transformative power of data. He is also pursuing a doctoral degree in Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought at The European Graduate School, with a focus on Urban Democracy.
